Thank You Alaska!
Our new favorite quote, which we just witnessed come true during our efforts to get to the Inaugural Parade: "One thing about Alaska hasn't changed since statehood. If you've got a good idea and are willing to work hard to see it accomplished, your Alaskan friends and neighbors will jump in to help out." ~ Vic Fischer, Alaska Constitutional Convention Member.
Thank You Lower 48!
Many of our on-line donors were not Alaska residents. Thank you, fellow Americans, for your generosity! Throughout the journey, the Marching Band was graced with the kindness of many wonderful people who were instrumental in our trip's success:
Vivenli and front desk at Fairfield Marriot Hotel in Newark, NJ
Michael Crossley, Bus Driver Extraordinaire
Maria, Rick, and all at Best Western Hotel Potomac Mills, VA
Ladonna and the Old Dominion Yacht Club

Update - January 6, 2009
Q99.7 interviews Alaska Governor Sarah Palin about Colony High School's
marching band representing all of Alaska at President Elect Barack Obama's
upcoming inauguration parade.
Date: January 20, 2009 Location: Pennsylvania Ave, Washington, DC
Fundraising for the Colony High School music department is on! We're working to
raise enough funds to send the Colony High School marching band to the
Presidential Inauguration Parade on January 20, 2009.
Colony High School Marching Band is a true example of Alaskan spirit.
These high school students and their band director, Mr. Jamin Burton,
formed a first-class marching band through many fundraisers, ingenuity
(such as buying used uniforms on eBay), and sheer persistence. The band
members take pride in their school, their music, and their State.
The Marching Band has been invited to march in the 2009 Inaugural Day Parade,
a great honor to represent all of Alaska during the 50th anniversary of statehood.
We’ve missed our first deadline and the cost of airline tickets has
since gone up, so we have still not reached our goal.
Premium Sponsor Benefits
An added benefit to helping the marching band: For those making tax-deductible donations of $500 or more, Valley Radio, Q99.7, will use their company name in a “Thank You” commercial to be aired during the month of January 2009.
Q99.7 will include your company name in sixty 30-second commercials. A new commercial will be cut for every 3 sponsors.
Our entire community will know that your generous donation contributed toward getting the band to Washington DC to represent our great state of Alaska on its 50th anniversary of statehood!
“We had a record number of applicants, so your selection is a
testament to your organization’s talent and enthusiasm. Your participation
will help make this Inauguration truly historic." - Presidential Inaugural
Committee
